4. Fingerprinting and Background Check: Schedule an appointment with IdentoGO for fingerprinting and a photo ID. Use Service Code 27RVNN when booking. IdentoGO will forward your background check results to the Delaware State Police Professional Licensing Section.
5. Application Submission: Email the following documents to dsp_plapplicant@delaware.gov:
o Completed Security Guard Application
o Security Guard Exam Certification from DTCC
Use the subject line: "last name, first name-Security Guard Application" (e.g., "Smith, John-Security Guard Application").
6. Approval: You’ll receive an email authorizing you to begin employment as a licensed security guard. This email serves as a temporary identification for 15 days. Your official identification card will be mailed to you or can be picked up at the Dover SBI Office, depending on the option you selected in your application.
Armed Security Guard (Red Card) Requirements:
In addition to the unarmed security guard requirements:
1. Age: You must be at least 21 years old.
2. Firearms Training: Complete a 40-hour firearms course with an approved instructor. The Delaware State Police website has a list of certified instructors.
3. Firearms Certification: Submit the Firearms Certification Form provided by your certified instructor and your application.
