Getting Your Oklahoma Security License
Five steps, start to finish.
Complete your CLEET-required training. Unarmed guards complete Phase I and Phase II - 40 hours total. Armed applicants add the 32-hour Phase IV firearms component, for 72 hours total.
Get fingerprinted for your background check. Submit fingerprints through IdentoGo within 30 days of applying. OSBI and CLEET review the results before your license is issued.
Submit your license application to CLEET. Pay the license fee that matches your endorsement - $50 unarmed/PI, $100 armed, or $150 combined - plus the separate IdentoGo fingerprint fee.
Wait for CLEET approval. New hires already working for a licensed agency get a 45-day grace period to complete licensing while they get up to speed on the job.
Renew every 3 years. Security guards complete 8 hours of refresher training per cycle (private investigators need 16); renew before the deadline or a $25 late fee applies - after 30 days expired, the license can't be renewed at all.

How fast can I get my Oklahoma security guard license?
Once you complete your CLEET-required Phase I and II training, submit fingerprints through IdentoGo, and file your application and fee with CLEET, the Council reviews your file and issues your license.
What does it cost to get licensed in Oklahoma?
CLEET's license fee is $50 for unarmed guards and private investigators, $100 for armed guards, and $150 for a combined license. A separate fingerprint fee is charged directly by IdentoGo.
Is Defencify's training approved for CLEET's requirements?

What's the 45-day grace period about?
If you're hired by a licensed agency before you're personally licensed, Oklahoma gives you 45 days to complete your training and get your CLEET license while you're already on the job.
How long does my license last, and what's renewal like?
An individual Oklahoma security license runs 3 years. Renew with 8 hours of refresher training (16 for private investigators) before it expires - a $25 late fee applies if you're overdue, and a license expired more than 30 days can't be renewed at all.
