To obtain a security guard license, commonly called a "guard card," in Arizona, you must meet specific requirements set by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS). The process varies slightly depending on whether you aim to become an unarmed or armed security guard.

Unarmed Security Guard Requirements:
1. Age and Citizenship: You must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or legal resident authorized to seek employment in the United States.
2. Criminal Background: You should have no felony convictions or pending indictments. Additionally, within the five years preceding your application, you must not have been convicted of misdemeanors involving personal violence, misconduct with a deadly weapon, dishonesty, fraud, arson, theft, domestic violence, narcotics offenses, or sexual misconduct.
3. Training: Complete an 8-hour unarmed security guard training course from a state-certified facility. This training covers criminal law, arrest laws, uniform and grooming standards, communication, use of force, general security procedures, ethics, crime scene preservation, and emergency response procedures.
4. Application Process:
o Fingerprinting: Submit a fingerprint card (Form FD-258) for a background check.
o Photographs: Provide two passport-sized color photographs of your face.
o Identification: Include a copy of your driver's license or another valid form of identification.
o Fees: Pay a processing fee of $72, which includes a $50 application fee and a $22 fingerprint fee.
Submit the completed applicationand all required documents and fees to the AZDPS Licensing Unit. Processing times may vary, but applications without complications are typically processed within 10 days. Armed Security Guard Requirements:
In addition to meeting all the unarmed security guard requirements, armed security guard applicants must:
1. Age: Be at least 21 years old.
2. Firearms Training: Complete a 16-hour armed security guard training course, which includes classroom instruction and live-fire range qualification. Topics cover force laws, firearm handling, legal issues, and liability.
3. Additional Background Checks: Ensure you are not a prohibited possessor as defined by law, have not been discharged from the armed services under dishonorable conditions, and have no convictions for domestic violence crimes.
4. Fees: The armed guard application requires an additional processing fee of $50, totaling $122, combined with the unarmed application fees.
After completing the necessary training and gathering all required documentation, submit your application to the AZDPS Licensing Unit for processing.

Complete rip off

I was ripped off. I was not given a guard card after when I tried to sign up with my states Department of security I was told I needed an agency license number from defencify which was not given.

Hello Abinezer, we have a partner in Arizona that can sign off on both parts of the form. We've forwarded your information to them, and once the filled out form is ready, you will receive an email from the instructor. The email should come within 1-3 business days from now, from Alejandro@vipfirearmstraining.com.

Please let us know if you have any questions in the meantime!
