o Undergo fingerprinting through an Identogo site within 30 days of application submission.
o Include local police and sheriff department record checks.
o Provide a letter of employment or proof of bond/insurance.
Armed Security Guard Requirements:
In addition to the unarmed security guard requirements:
1. Age:
o Must be at least 21 years old.
2. Additional Training:
o Complete Phase IV firearms training (32 hours).
o Training includes legal aspects of firearm use, safety, and marksmanship.
3. Psychological Evaluation:
o Undergo a psychological evaluation using the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) or another approved instrument.
o Evaluation results are valid for six months.
4. Application Process:
o Submit a completed application with a $100 fee.
o Provide three passport-sized color photographs.
o Include all documentation required for unarmed guards, plus proof of firearms training and psychological evaluation.
Continuing Education and Renewal:
License Duration: Licenses are valid for two years.
Renewal Training:
o Unarmed Guards: 8 hours of continuing education.
o Armed Guards: Additional 8 hours of firearms-related continuing education.
