Unarmed Security Guard Requirements:
1. Age and Citizenship:

  • Be at least 18 years old.

2. Education:

  • Hold a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.


3. Language Proficiency:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

- Firearm safety and maintenance.
- Practical shooting exercises and qualification.


3. Firearm Control Card (FCC):

  • Apply for an FCC, which permits carrying a firearm while on duty.
  • Application Submission: Provide proof of completed firearm training and other required documentation.
  • Fees: Pay the application processing fee of $75.

All Illinois employers with one or more employees are required by law to provide sexual harassment prevention training to their staff.  This includes all employees (full-time, part-time, short term or interns) and should be completed as soon as possible once the employee is hired, as the employer may be liable for the conduct of new employees they hire. Refresher training is required each calendar year.

This course meets the training requirements set forth in Sections 2-109 and 2-110 of the Illinois Human Rights Act and can be used for initial training and annual recertification training.
